About the company

Minor Punctuations Theatre is a Toronto-based contemporary theatre company dedicated to playwriting, performance, and the creation of original theatre and performance productions. Working across workshops and full productions, the company supports emerging and early-career artists and creates space for new work to develop between text, body, and presence.
Founded by playwright and theatre-maker Aylin Oyan Salahshoor, the company is shaped by diasporic ways of working—where language carries memory, displacement informs form, and making work is both an artistic and political act. These perspectives inform Minor Punctuations’ commitment to process, care, and experimentation.

Far Flung Peoples

Far Flung Peoples is a new creation by Minor Punctuations Theatre, premiering at Theatre Centre in October 2026.

In a shared space that is never quite home, four lives collide. They wait. They argue. They misunderstand one another. They laugh at the wrong moments and sometimes at themselves. Between paperwork, shared meals, and long silences, comedy slips in not as escape, but as survival.

Through multilingual dialogue, physical presence, and ensemble driven performance, Far Flung Peoples moves between humour and vulnerability, tracing the absurdities and tenderness of displacement. Everyday frustrations become comic rhythms. Memory interrupts the present. Imagination stretches reality just enough to make it bearable.

Far Flung Peoples invites audiences to laugh, to recognize themselves, and to sit with uncertainty, asking what it means to live together when home is provisional, language is unstable, and the future remains unresolved.

“Salahshoor provides a riveting central performance as the reserved girl, lost in a new world with a foreign language and a seemingly impenetrable culture.”

“Aylin Oyan Salahshoor gives a sweetly compelling performance as 18-year-old Goli, for whom English will be a ticket to something and somewhere she’s not quite able to conceptualize yet.”

“The youngest and by far the most compassionate and engaging is the smart and kind Goli, tenderly and delicately portrayed by the excellent Aylin Oyan Salahshoor.”

Frequently asked questions

Minor Punctuations does not have a permanent acting ensemble. Instead, theatre projects are produced as individual works, and casting for each production is determined by the director of that specific project. If you would like to be considered for roles, we encourage you to stay updated with casting notices and contact us with your acting résumé.

Yes. Minor Punctuations will be offering acting classes and workshops. Announcements and registration details will be shared on our website and Instagram page, so we encourage you to follow us there to stay informed about the most recent news and upcoming programs.

While we do not currently offer a formal internship program, we often welcome volunteers to support areas such as event coordination, administrative assistance, and front-of-house operations. If you are interested, please contact us with your CV and indicate the area in which you would like to contribute. Depending on current needs and availability, we may be able to involve you in upcoming events or productions.

The Playwriting Lab is a development space dedicated to supporting new writing and emerging voices. Selected participants have the opportunity to workshop their scripts, receive feedback from artists and collaborators, and take part in readings or creative development sessions. Information about application periods, eligibility, and submission guidelines will be announced on our website and Instagram page.

While we do not operate as a repertory company, we occasionally host reading or development opportunities where original scripts are shared with actors and directors. You may submit your script for consideration, and we will contact you if it is selected for one of these programs. Please note that submitted scripts cannot be returned.

In a Minor Punctuations Acting Lab, performers take part in a structured, process-based workshop combining physical warm-ups, voice work, ensemble exercises, and scene exploration. Sessions typically begin with movement and breath to build focus and group awareness, followed by exercises that develop listening, timing, and responsiveness within the ensemble.
